“The imports came from the UAE, Turkey, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Canada, China, Belgium, Switzerland, the US, Italy, India, Luxembourg and Timor-Leste,” Rouhollah Latifi was also quoted as saying by IRIB News.
The main exporters were China with 23,548 tons worth $1.33 million, Turkey with 92,841 tons worth $1.27 million and the UAE with 22,529 tons worth $2.09 million.
“Some 95% of Iran’s domestic demand for medicine are produced inside the country. Yet, imports make up between 40% and 50% of raw materials required for pharmaceutical production,” he said.
